Donate

Pallotti College is a place of retreat, hospitality and warm welcome, a special place of sanctuary to come away and nourish the spirit.

  • Operating with a combined paid/voluntary team for over 40 years
  • Committed to following the charitable footsteps of St Vincent Pallotti
  • Special care for the marginalised
  • Providing food and temporary accommodation for the homeless, asylum seekers or women seeking refuge through Marjorie Maria Cove
  • Outreach including Firewood for Winter Warmth, support of local agencies and our popular annual Free Christmas Day lunch

In recent times there have been enormous infrastructure costs, depleting our reserves and curbing our dreams of improving facilities and growing our outreach initiatives.

We passionately believe in continuing our ministries and for the first time ever we are asking for your help.

Outreach

Much more than a Retreat and Conference Centre, Pallotti College engages in many forms of outreach, both within our local community and further afield. Through our welfare arm we are able to help in many ways.

St Vincent Pallotti

IMG 0270 cropSt. Vincent Pallotti (1795-1850) recognizing the problems and potentials of the Church of his time (1835), called for a renewal of faith and re-enkindling of love and hope of the faithful for a new apostolate of all the baptized in the Union of Catholic Apostolate (UAC).

The priests and brothers of this Union he called together in a community (1846) now known as "Society of the Catholic Apostolate" (SAC), with more than 2000 members all over the world.

St. Vincent Pallotti was born in Rome, 21st April 1795. Ordained priest on the 16th of May, 1818.

On the 4th of April 1835 he founded the Union of Catholic Apostolate, bringing together priests, men and women religious, and lay people; united as a faith community for the common purpose of living and spreading the Good News.

In 1846 he formed a community of priests and brothers now known as the Society of the Catholic Apostolate.

He died on the 22nd of January 1850 at the centre of his new community, the church of San Salvatore in Onda, Rome.

He was beatified by Pius XlI on the 22nd of January 1950, and proclaimed a Saint by John XXIII, 20th January 1963.

St. Vincent Pallotti gave special emphasis to the fact that every Christian has from Jesus a mission for the Church and for the world. He was aware that the bishops, priests, and religious alone cannot carry total responsibility for evangelization. Lay people, too, have the obligation and the right to actively participate in the mission of the Church. This concept was new at the time of Vincent Pallotti, and to implement it he founded the Union of Catholic Apostolate.

IMG 0181He meant this Union to be an association of priests, religious, and lay people who together would strive to awaken in all a consciousness of their call to the apostate of Jesus Christ. Moreover, they are called to bring this consciousness to all parts of the world.

Pope Paul VI said that Pallotti teaches us "to respect the vocation of lay Christians by providing adequate opportunity for its mature development".

Pope John Paul II, speaking to the Pallottine Family in 1986, called on all members to "continue to multiply your commitment so that what Vincent Pallotti prophetically announced, and the Second Vatican Council authoritatively confirmed, might become a happy reality, and that all Christians might become authentic apostles of Christ in the Church and the world!"

Pallottine Priests and Brothers came to Australia from the German Province in 1901 to pastor to the Aboriginal people of Beagle Bay Mission in the Kimberley.

From there they spread to other missions and parishes in Western Australia and eventually to the Eastern States of Australia.

Prayer

Pallotti College provides many opportunities for prayer.

Chapel

The chapel has ample space for 250 or more and is always open and available for individual prayer time, community prayer and liturgical celebrations.

Prayer rooms

In each accommodation Wing you will find a quiet room set aside for prayer, ideal for private prayer or with a small group.

Oratory

Located off the foyer of the main conference room the oratory provides a sacred space for prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Garden

“If I keep a green bough in my heart, then the singing bird will come” (Chinese proverb)

We have become very busy, with our constant “To Do lists” and the thrust and rush of daily life.

In our garden and grounds one can step aside for a while to warm the soul and surrender to the wonders of creation. Feel the breeze, notice the swaying of the trees, explore the smaller things, a single flower, a leaf, beauty exists in every moment.

You will discover the many places for quiet prayer and reflection. Find a shady spot, linger for a while to encounter God in the beauty of the mountains, or simply to remain in silence…

“The voice of God is often heard only in a whisper, in a breath of silence. Remaining in silence in God’s presence, open to the Holy Spirit, is already prayer” (Taizé)

Labyrinth

The Labyrinth comes from ancient times, symbolic of our journey in life. A project team has planned, designed and created a Labyrinth to enhance our grounds as an opportunity for walking meditation and private prayer.

Volunteers

Pallotti College is staffed entirely by a team consisting of volunteers & some paid staff. But it’s fair to say that we are built on Volunteers and couldn’t function without them: ordinary people who do extraordinary work and generously give their time towards providing a place of true welcome, so that every guest will leave feeling rested and renewed.

Each of us can be inspired in some way by the charism of St Vincent Pallotti and all have individual skills to bring to our community.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and all ages, people in between jobs, students, gap year, retired people and couples, international visitors, backpackers. Ideal for those interested in hospitality to get some experience and training, people at a crossroads in their lives, or simply looking for the warmth of community.

We are seeking a small number of volunteers to help with the day-to-day operation of our centre including hospitality, housekeeping, helping in the kitchen, creating and maintaining a herb and vegetable garden, some prefer to work on the farm managing livestock and pastures, also lawn mowing and grounds, helping in the office or getting involved with some of our special outreach activities.

During quieter times we can enjoy outings together and our overseas volunteers often spend days off exploring our country.

This is a great opportunity to join our team and experience life in a beautiful rural environment with other like-minded people. We are surrounded by National forest and other rural properties and have many native animals and birds on site.
